The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is the largest professional members' organisation in the world. A very active society within the IEEE, the Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) concerns itself with the development and applications of technologies to marine science and engineering. When Joe Vadus, Vice President of the OES, heard about JIOQ, he immediately thought it would be a great idea to have OES sponsor JIOQ to take marine engineering and electronics into the field and report to the OES on our activities and experiences. Thanks to Joe and his colleagues, OES came through with support for JIOQ and we are looking forward to working with OES to have JIOQ featured in the OES magazine and results of our research to be presented at OES conferences in 2005.
