Jocara Newsletter Mar 22, 2005 Here we are 22 March already and still we are in Zanzibar. Caroline's infection wouldn't go away and in the end she had minor surgery. Part of her thumb nail had to be removed to get to the infection. Not very pleasant, but it is now healing nicely. The guys all came down with some kind of African stomach and gut bug and spent a lot of time on the loo, having mild fevers and very little energy. They are recovering too. So, in fact, we have cleared out and after a last lunch at our favourite Italian cafe finally sailed away from Stone Town to anchor 15 miles further north. At least we feel we have left and are on our way. We do wonder what the weather will bring us on our passage to the Seychelles. It seems the monsoon has changed and we are now experiencing the start of the 'long rains'. Hopefully the winds have shifted far enough to the south to give us a reasonable sailing angle. We've been in Tanzania nearly 3 months and it is with a little trepidation that we set off on this 1000 mile passage. But new horizons and new adventures are beckoning!
