Jocara Newsletter Oct 16, 2004 Winds have been getting lighter, sometimes too little to sail with. We are now at 17 deg. 30'S, 71 deg. 29'E and creeping along at 4-5 knots in just enough wind to keep the Genoa pulling. We think it will take another 4 or more days to get to Rodrigues, 480 n.m. to go. Despite upgrading the fishing tackle to 80 lb test gear, we've lost more lures and line to very heavy hitters simply running off with the line until we put enough tension on to halt the screaming reel, at which point it breaks. We did get one small and very tasty tuna on board which we made into top-grade sashimi and sushi fore a delicious lunch. Lazy days and sloppy seas - watching for the 'Green Flash' every evening as the sun goes down. Caroline has seen two, but Alex has yet to see his first. Our website has been updated, so be sure to check out the new material, including lots of pictures and our chatty log. We also have these newsletters archived on site. Sailing on, from the crew of Jocara.
