Chatty log

All good sailors keep an official navigation and weather log. Added to this, John began drawing and writing about fish we caught, things seen along the way etc. One day Caroline said 'why don't we write all that stuff in a separate log, we'll call it the 'Chatty log'. And so the 'Chatty Log' was born.

Our first Chatty Log was a hand-written scrapbook, photographs pasted in, covering the voyage from Italy to San Diego in 1991. This has never been transcribed to electronic form, and rests peacefully in a drybox in John's office.

By the time we left on our second voyage, the digital age aboard had dawned. The 1995 log of our trip from San Diego to Singapore was typed into a laptop. We've uploaded some excerpts with pictures for you to read if you're interested.

Now, in this new millenium, the Chatty Log with images describing our daily lives and (mis)adventures aboard Jocara has matured into a weblog, or 'blog', periodically uploaded onto this site whenever we can get to a post office to airmail a new CD.

This is our journal. Live it with us.
