Welcome
to 'Jocara', a blue-water cruising yacht...
NEWS!
Jocara is now available for charter in Tonga!
Jocara
is now in New Zealand, preparing to move up to the Kingdom of Tonga to
begin chartering in the Vava'u island group, an idyllic collection of
beautiful tropical islands frequented by Humpback Whales in the months
of July-Oct.
Jocara
will be operated by Melinda
Sea Adventures, a local professional chartering company who has been
operating in Tonga for many years and who has one of the very few whale-watching
licences, allowing clients on board to not only view the whales close-up
but even perhaps to snorkel with them.
Visit
Jocara's chartering
site at www.sailtonga.com
or email for more
information, and we'll look forward to seeing you there!
Jocara's
voyages are not only about adventure, but also about research, education
and awareness. The Jocara crew are passionate about the environment and
use this site to share their experiences, findings and feelings.

Jocara
is going to New Zealand!
The
big news is that Jocara is now co-owned with the Orams family
(Mark, Renée, Daniel and Brianna) in New Zealand and is
going to be based there. Both families are really excited by this
opportunity and will be sailing her in turn, continuing with her
work in research, exploration and promotion of marine awareness
and conservation.
We will be updating the site with more
information as we go along.

See
where Jocara is now by clicking on the map!
You
will need Google Earth (get it free from here)
installed in order to view our real-time position and track.
If
your browser is not already configured to open Google Earth when
you click on the map, you may be asked whether you want to save
the file (which will be called progress.kml) or choose an application
to open it. Open it with Google Earth and the browser should remember
how to do this next time. Otherwise save the file and open it manually.
Safari
may just save it and give you a new blank web page window. |

See
some photos from Jocara!
Some photos from the journey can be downloaded by clicking
here.
Again, you will need Google Earth to
see these photos, marked right at the places they were taken! Just follow
the set of instructions above to get your browser to be configured for
Google Earth (the file will be called photos-1.kmz).
